			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Racine Zoo is located in Racine, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The zoo occupies 32 acres and is home to over a hundred species of animals and wildlife. </p>
<p>The zoo grounds contain a children&#8217;s area that includes a playground, a petting zoo, and the hands-on Benstead Discovery Center. You can visit the famous orangutans Max and Jenny, the beloved giraffes Bo and Mac, or you can walk the grounds and encounter a variety<span id="more-76"></span> of mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and amphibians. There is a miniature express train, a 2000-gallon salt water fish habitat, and a large gift shop called the Zootique.</p>
<p>Every summer the zoo features jazz concerts on the weekends. Other special events include Boo at the Zoo, the annual breakfast with Santa and the animals, and Earth Day festivities. The Racine Zoo is committed to preserving endangered species and has programs in place designed to encourage wildlife conservation through a variety of educational programs that are offered to the public.</p>
<p>The zoo is open daily and hours of operation vary seasonally. Admission is free for members and children two and under. Adult non-members are 3.00, seniors are 2.50 and children are 2.00. Parking is always free.</p>

<p>Many of the available jobs in Racine are in manufacturing, retail and food service industries. Food service jobs range from delivery drivers, wait staff to chefs. Some of the manufacturing firms located in Racine are SC Johnson. which manufactures products for home care, personal care and insect control and<span id="more-7"></span> CNH (formerly Case Inc.) which maufactures farm equipment. </p>
<p>A few of the major employers in Racine are the local medical center, Racine School District and SC Johnson &#038; Sons. Medical care employees are also needed. </p>
<p>After losing many downtown jobs and retailers during the 1980s, a group of business owners are attempting to turn the downtown area and harbor into a harbor complex to attract convention and tourism activity. Included in the project is a 110-acre 921 slip harbor/marina; a 6-acre festival park containing indoor and outdoor facilities and a 16-acre county park. There is also a new 76-unit lakefront condominium.</p>
